World’s first hydrogen-powered superyacht is here

We nowadays hear about hydrogen-powered cars and even trucks. It seems very interesting to have only water as an exhaust byproduct instead of dangerous gases. Recently, a Dutch company – Sinot yacht and architecture design unveiled the world’s first hydrogen-powered superyacht Sinot Aqua.

Furthermore, more and more companies are trying to focus on renewable energy. So, why not a yacht? Aqua is a 400-foot long yacht that entirely runs on Hydrogen, a renewable energy source. The real inspiration behind designing such a yacht is the owner’s lifestyle, cutting edge technology, and fluidic versatility of water.

Water is a life-sustaining source; it makes the earth habitable. It is really a fuel of life.

Overview

First of all, the Sinot Aqua entirely runs on Hydrogen. The system has two 28-tons vacuumed tanks. These tanks contain liquid hydrogen. The temperatures here are -253 degrees celsius as liquid hydrogen remains stable at this temperature to store.

Also, hydrogen is an environmental-friendly energy source. Simultaneously, it gives a significantly quieter experience when you compare it to other traditional engines. The Aqua also has backup generators if ever any need arises.

Besides, the design team has a clear focus on keeping occupants very close to the water. Water brings a calmer and relaxing experience. So, the aft deck features a series of platforms that cascade down towards the sea. Additionally, a swimming platform allows all passengers to enjoy optimal water access at sea level.

What is under the deck?

Sinot Aqua superyacht has five decks. It can accommodate 31 crew members and 14 guests. The yacht offers a range of 3750 nautical miles and can achieve a maximum speed of 17 knots. The average cruising speed is 10-12 knots.

Furthermore, the cylinders’ liquified hydrogen is transformed into electrical energy by proton exchange membrane fuel cells. The by-product of this reaction is only water, and that is the beauty of renewables. These tanks have the ability to split the power. So, tanks split 4 MW of power and run two 1 MW propulsion motors and two 300 kW bow thrusters. These bow thrusters help in maneuvering at very tight spots. The buffer battery pack of 1.5MWh acts as an instant source of electrical energy, running all electricals on board. The fuel cells charge the battery as and when needed.

Besides, the aqua has a formal dining area having a seating capacity of 14. It also has indoor and outdoor entertaining spaces. The yacht also features a wellness and yoga center.

The Aqua also features an observatory at the front. It has a seating capacity of two and has large glass windows. You can enjoy scenic views of horizons. Besides, the yacht also has additional design features like a helipad, a mini waterfall, and Japanese interiors. Also, the exteriors of the aqua look like ocean swells. The sculpted hull intersected by glass windows looks stunning.

In conclusion, the Sinot Aqua is a concept, but it is a stunning superyacht having unique interiors and exteriors. The superyacht offers great views of the ocean and blends out the boundaries between humans and water.
